Best Watch Movement Shanghai’s 4131 has a noticeable improvement in finish compared to the previous 4130, but still does not match Dandong’s craftsmanship. The movement plate of the Shanghai version is also darker, and not due to the lighting. When we swapped the plates to test it, the Shanghai plate was darker. This is likely due to differences between coating processes.

The upper image shows Dandong and the lower image Shanghai. Both have bevel polishing chamfering. However, Dandong has more defined vertical lines and better workmanship.

In this case, the engraving is more crisp and clean on the Dandong version.

Shanghai still has a decorative balance-bridge without a regulating indicator (though a fine-adjustment system is visible on the back view).

There is no significant difference in performance or reliability between the Dandong 4131 and Shanghai 4131 movements. The difference is mainly in the finishing. The polishing of Dandong 4131 is comparable to that of genuine Omega movements. It is slightly behind the clarity in Geneva stripes, but equal in terms chamfering. The bevels have been vertically brushed, and are well executed. However, the plate cleanliness is still lacking.

For a movement that costs just 4,000 yuan, the craftsmanship is truly impressive!
